Visiting the sick (Bikur Cholim) is considered an act of loving kindness (Gemilut Chasadim).

The concept of Bikur Cholim is first introduced in the Torah when Hashem visits Avraham Avinu while he is recovering from circumcision (Bereishit 18:1)
